Have we ever paid attention to how we talk to ourselves?
I have recently paid attention to my inner voice and was amazed to experience how our negative thoughts can be our own enemy. These negative thoughts play a major role to give us stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, and depression.
Let me tell you that it is normal and natural, these negative thoughts are always there, they come and go, and when they become uncontrollable, they give us a feeling that it's the end of the world, and nothing is going to fix our life, situation, or issue. The only thing we need to make sure of is to change the habit of our thinking, pay attention to our thought processes, and gradually work on changing our thinking habits.
My story, I have also faced these situations, and still, my negative thoughts come and go. Now I have stopped struggling with these thoughts, I observe them and improve myself on daily basis. Today, I am sharing my style to work with these negative thoughts and focus on bettering myself.
Before you go through my ways, pls read below and if possible, write it on a piece of paper and stick it to a place where you can see this message regularly.
IMP Message: Don't suppress any negative thoughts, because the moment you do that, you will see more negative thoughts popping up in your head. So, allow your negative thoughts.
Always remember- Negative thoughts flourish the more you try to deny them.
Now Here Are My ways to break free from the negative thoughts-
- I observe them, then I say- “Thank you for letting me know”. What message you are trying to deliver to my mind? (I learned this from Louise Hay)
- I meditate and focus on deep breathing (especially 15 inhales and 15 exhales at the time of negative thinking).
- Then I focus on- What advice I would be giving if my loved ones were approaching me for a solution to their negative thinking?
- I start Journaling, which means- writing my thoughts, worries, effects, causes, and the positive and negative results of my negative thinking. This helps me to empty my mind and clear my thoughts.
- I recall happy moments with my wife, and daughter, my overall career & life’s journey, my message exchanges/ phone calls with my loved ones, and people’s word of appreciation to me. Memories of my favorite vacations.
- Then I do gratitude practice, I thank God, and everyone in my life who helped me, and also thank people who think negatively about me, as well as I thank those who say I can't do it (or I could not do it), these people make me stronger.
Bonus Point: Be strong. You never know who you are inspiring! (I recently learned this from a couple of messages I received from nice people, who see me as their inspiration)
Please share your experiences in the comments below and also let me know how I can help.
